Overview

This year’s Alternative High School Initiative Fall Convening is being co-hosted by the Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans (AAMA) in Houston, Texas. Thanks to feedback from past convenings, this year’s Fall Convening will incorporate more work time together as a network of networks, focused around AHSI’s capacity building topics and network-wide goals.

A new format will be piloted, focusing on work group efforts to enhance capacity around High School to Careers and College, Math & Quantitative Reasoning, Principal Training & Support, and Policy & Place-based Partnerships. AAMA has also arranged for the convening participants to visit their George I. Sanchez Charter High School during the course of the convening.
