School Profile

Big Picture Academy Northwest is a unique school concept formed by professionals with an innovative mindset and a passion for working with and educating young people. With this philosophy in mind, Big Picture puts a focus on “One Student at a Time”. We hope to go beyond the traditional academic scope, by allowing students hands-on experience in the real world, and by individualizing instruction to every student’s needs. In this capacity, our students participate in internships twice a week with highly qualified mentors to supplement their classroom learning experience.

In the classroom, students work with a small, close-knit staff of caring educators who have special training in helping students to grow and develop academically based on their own passions and interests. Primarily students work with an advisor, who serves as a generalist instructor and teaches all courses except for math and science, as students receive specialized instruction in these core areas. The advisor also helps students to coordinate the internship experience which helps them to develop real-world professional skills and fine tunes student interests.

We believe that by truly getting to know our students within a small classroom setting, individualizing instruction to student interests, and by getting students out in the real world, we can affect significant student achievement within the public school system, ‘one student at a time’.
