Noel Parish moved to NYC from O-H, I-O where she studied science, English, and alternative education at Ohio University. She proceeded to work at The Bronx Guild High School, designing and teaching personalized curriculum to and organizing internships and early college experiences for each of her individual students. Passionate about new ways of teaching and learning, the Big Picture way of doing school was a natural fit. Required by law to get a master’s and with encouragement from friends and colleagues, Noel co-designed and co-founded the Bronx Compass High School in 2012 while completing a degree in administration, leadership and technology at NYU’s Steinhardt in 2013. Noel believes that sustained innovation must be approached at a system wide level, In 2016, she entered the non-profit arena where she works across sectors to build capacity and promote policies to make personalized pathways for young people the norm. In her free time, Noel loves to travel and go on camping trips with her family or take photos at Pelham Bay Park and the Bronx zoo. One part educator, one part entrepreneur, two parts geek, and three parts strategist, all of her work is informed by the belief that doing it right means designing systems with students, families, and communities at the center, always.
