Joshua Poyer is the Director of Youth Voice and H2H Hub, working closely with key stakeholders and local community-based organizations to develop and organize student-centered experiences aligned with BPL values and framework, while leading the organization’s effort to lift and amplify the student experience – keeping young people at the center BPL’s mission.

Bronx born and raised, Joshua has spent his entire career in service to the youth from his hometown. Prior to joining Big Picture, he was a founding team member of HERE to HERE. Additionally, Joshua worked at Children’s Aid for more than decade in various youth-facing roles. Joshua served as a Youth Developer and Assistant Director for Roberto Clemente Campus where he developed a student-centered Youth Advocacy curriculum for middle schools in the borough.

Joshua continued his youth empowerment work by leading the EXCEL program at Fannie Lou Hamer Freedom High School, a college & career readiness initiative which connected students with internships, scholarships and training opportunities. He also lead the creation of the school’s Student Government Association which birthed the Peace Block Party, an award winning, student-led annual event that promotes anti-gun/gang violence through community building and activism.

Joshua earned a B.A. in Psychology from CUNY City College. During his free time, Joshua enjoys photography, live music and bike riding.
